How did I miss you were on Substack? Hi Antonia - we chatted a few times on Twitter back in the day. Very pleased indeed to see I now have a bazillion newsletter essays of yours to read...

Loved this! So true, when we 'run' to someplace to escape (for example) crowds, our actions of course inevitably bring the things we are running from to us again. And your conclusion is spot on - we have to learn to live together. Long term, I'm afraid it will never happen but who knows? And on individualism. I once read something about what we can/should rely on in life. Of course, someone said "Myself!" - but what happens when you get sick, can't see, need food, etc. Someone else said "My Friends!" - but of course they move in and out of life as time goes by. The 'answer' the (of course) Zen Monk gives is interesting - "The only thing you can rely on is life as it unfolds". I like that. And heading over to read your Medium article, tnx!

Are you familiar with the singer/songwriter Marian Call? She has this song, Independence, that haunts me often. It is doing so right now as I'm re-reading this post. https://mariancall.bandcamp.com/track/independence
