Good morning, Antonia. Your photo really conveys the West to me, it's such a classic Western river and loved those peaks... ah. Must have been a fabulous time at the cabin! And as always, beautiful writing - thanks for sharing with all of us!

I love this. I don't want anything but the real world. More and more I don't listen to stuff, I don't watch stuff, I don't want any of it. It's all too much and every little bit of it is just contributing to burning up the world I love. Some days it is almost more than I can live with.

There are a handful of blogs and newsletters that I will read whenever friends or colleagues point me to them, but yours is the only one I subscribe to.

Thank you for today's virtual and vivid escape to a part of the world I grew up in and continue to love but have been unable to visit for too long. And thank you for all the previous posts that I haven't thanked you for until now but have enjoyed immensely. And thank you also for publishing the link to the short documentary about Mohamedou Ould Salahi and Steve Wood. I have been following the story of their remarkable friendship in The New Yorker and other media, including The Guardian, or as my Irish husband calls it, The Breakfast of Champions of Justice.

Keep up the good work.

Did you watch Can't Get You Out of My Head? Maybe we're sort of all walking around in virtual reality.

Tahar Rahim is so good in The Mauritanian. Put it on your watchlist.

I was sorry to read about nitrile gloves. Years ago, I was involved in litigation over the patent, and they really were an improvement in terms of usability over what came before.

One of my favorite things about spending time in nature is that not that it is so simple to be in, but that once you are able to focus on yourself, your surroundings, and the world you exist in, it becomes so much more rich and intricate. It makes you feel small and impermanent.
